On Life: a Chinese poem
![]() |
« Heaven, Earth: Water, Wood, Fire, Metal The silk of the cocoon, the threads of existence, The rivers streaming, the flow of life. In the dark cavern, an embryo The blade cuts the cord. Archer, bow, arrow, target One. Green sprigs of the mulberry tree reach from earth to sky. Footprints of ancestors we leave in our turn The dark boughs of a cedar. Two, Three, One: a bud in the soil Heavenly roots, earthly branches! »
